After you land at Prague Airport

Prague has two passenger terminals next to each other. Terminal 1 handles flights from outside the Schengen area — the UK, Ireland, the US, the Middle East and Asia, for example — so you'll go through passport control before baggage claim. Terminal 2 handles flights from Schengen countries, with no passport check on arrival. Either way, allow around 15–40 minutes from landing to the arrivals hall, depending on queues and how quickly bags arrive.

Your driver already knows your flight and waits in the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name: in Terminal 1 by the Mattoni bar on your left as you come out, and in Terminal 2 by the information centre just outside the arrivals hall. See the meeting point guide for directions. If your bags are delayed or lost, report it at the airline's baggage desk before you leave the baggage hall, then message us on WhatsApp — your driver will wait.

A tip on money: the Czech Republic uses the Czech koruna (CZK), and cards are accepted almost everywhere. If you want cash, use a bank ATM rather than an exchange booth, and if a card machine or ATM offers to charge you in your home currency, choose CZK — the conversion offered is usually worse. Your transfer is already paid when you book, so there's nothing to pay the driver.

About Prague main station (Praha hlavní nádraží)

Praha hlavní nádraží is Prague's main railway station, at the top end of New Town near Wenceslas Square and Vrchlického sady park. It's the hub for international trains — including direct services to Vienna, Budapest, Berlin, Dresden and Bratislava — and for long-distance domestic routes such as Brno, Ostrava and Olomouc. Trains are run by several operators, including České dráhy, RegioJet and Leo Express, so check which company your ticket is with.

The station has an underground hall with ticket offices, departure boards, shops and cafés, and the beautiful Art Nouveau Fanta Building on the upper level. Metro line C stops directly below it.

Making a train connection after your flight

Connecting from a flight to a train is where a pre-booked car really helps: there's no queue for a taxi and no changing buses with luggage. Plan your train with a buffer for passport control (non-Schengen arrivals at Terminal 1), baggage claim and the drive:

  • Schengen flight, hand luggage only: allow at least 1½ hours from landing to train departure.
  • Checked bags or a non-Schengen flight: allow 2 hours or more.

Because we track your flight, your driver adjusts automatically if you land early or late. If you're running late for a train, tell your driver — they'll take you to the entrance nearest the platforms.

Drop-off at the station

Your driver drops you at the station's road-side entrance, as close to the main hall as traffic rules allow, and helps with your bags. From there, follow the signs to the departure boards in the main hall — platform numbers often appear only 10–20 minutes before departure, so don't worry if yours isn't shown yet.

The platforms are reached through underpasses with stairs, ramps and lifts. If you have heavy luggage, give yourself a few extra minutes.

Train station transfer vs the Airport Express bus

The Airport Express (AE) bus runs from both terminals to the main station for 200 CZK per person and takes about 35 minutes. It's a good option for a solo traveller in daytime. It runs on a timetable, stops at a few points on the way, and doesn't run overnight.

For two or more people, or with heavy bags, a private transfer from 940 CZK per car works out at a similar price per person — and goes door to door on your schedule. Compare all options in our public transport guide.

Going back: the main station to Prague Airport

The return journey from the main station to Václav Havel Airport usually takes about 25–35 minutes, but allow extra time on weekday mornings (roughly 7:00–9:30) and late afternoons (roughly 15:30–18:30), when the main roads out of the city are at their busiest. Airlines generally recommend arriving 2 hours before a flight within the Schengen area and about 3 hours before a long-haul or non-Schengen flight, so for most travellers a pickup 2½–3½ hours before departure is about right.

Book the return when you book your arrival, or any time later. We need at least 90 minutes' notice for daytime pickups and 8 hours' notice for pickups between 00:00 and 08:00 — so if you have an early-morning flight, book it the day before. Pickups between 00:00 and 08:00 are charged at the night rate (+50%), and the price shown when you book already includes it.

Your driver collects you at your building's door, loads the luggage and drops you at the departures level of the right terminal: Terminal 1 for flights outside the Schengen area (for example the UK, US, Middle East and Asia) and Terminal 2 for Schengen flights. If you're unsure, check your booking or boarding pass — your driver can confirm too.

Luggage, families and groups heading to the station

Every fare includes luggage. A Comfort car (VW Passat / Skoda Superb) or SUV (Skoda Kodiaq) takes up to 4 passengers with 4 bags included — typically 2 large suitcases and 2 cabin bags. Up to 2 extra large bags can be added for 300 CZK each. If you're 4 people with more than 6 bags, one car isn't enough, and the booking form will suggest a minivan or a second car.

For 5–7 passengers, book the minivan (VW Transporter) or the Mercedes Vito / V-Class: both take up to 7 people and 7 bags, priced per vehicle rather than per person. Bringing a folded pram, skis or golf bags? Mention it in the booking note so we keep space for them.

Every passenger needs a seat, including children, so count everyone when you choose the number of passengers.

Frequently Asked Questions — Prague Airport to Prague Main Train Station

How much is a transfer from Prague Airport to the train station?

A private transfer from Prague Airport to Prague Main Train Station costs from 940 CZK (approximately 39 EUR) for up to 4 passengers in the daytime. Night pickups (00:00–08:00) carry a 50% surcharge, shown upfront. No surge pricing or hidden fees.

How long does it take to drive from Prague Airport to the train station?

Approximately 25–35 minutes under normal traffic. We recommend booking your transfer at least 1.5 hours before your train departure to allow for any delays.

Can I also be picked up from the train station to the airport?

Yes, we offer transfers in both directions. For train station to airport pickups, your driver meets you at the station entrance at your specified time. Book a return and save 10% with code RETURN10.

What if my flight is delayed and I might miss my train?

We monitor your flight in real time. If delayed, your driver adjusts accordingly. However, if you're worried about missing a train connection, we recommend a 2-hour buffer between landing and train departure.

Is the Airport Express bus a good alternative?

The AE bus costs 200 CZK per person and takes 35 minutes — but runs only every 30 minutes, doesn't operate late at night, and has limited luggage space. For 2+ travellers, PragueLane's upfront price from 940 CZK is often cheaper per person and far more convenient.
