What to expect on your transfer to Vinohrady

Your English-speaking driver meets you in the arrivals hall at Václav Havel Airport with a name sign, helps with your luggage and drives you straight to your address in Vinohrady. The trip takes about 25–35 min depending on traffic.

Your price is shown upfront and locked when you book. Night pickups (00:00–08:00) and extra luggage are charged as shown on our prices page.

Getting to Vinohrady from the airport

Vinohrady is on the far side of the centre from the airport, so your driver picks the faster of two ways at that hour (through the city or along the main north–south road) to reach your street.

Where the car can stop in Vinohrady

Vinohrady is residential: most street parking is reserved for residents, but drop-offs are no problem. Your driver stops briefly at your building's entrance, so just give the exact address, including the house number.

Good to know about Vinohrady

  • Many apartments here are in older buildings entered through a courtyard or a separate door. Add any entrance details to your booking note.
  • Náměstí Míru and Jiřího z Poděbrad metro stations (line A) connect Vinohrady to the centre in a few minutes.
  • Riegrovy sady park has one of the best sunset views of Prague Castle.

About Vinohrady

Vinohrady is a leafy Prague 2 neighbourhood known for art nouveau buildings, cafés, wine bars and the Riegrovy sady park. Many visitors stay here in apartments, often on side streets far from the metro.

Nearby: Náměstí Míru, Riegrovy sady, Havlíčkovy sady, Church of St. Ludmila, Vinohradská street.

After you land at Prague Airport

Prague has two passenger terminals next to each other. Terminal 1 handles flights from outside the Schengen area — the UK, Ireland, the US, the Middle East and Asia, for example — so you'll go through passport control before baggage claim. Terminal 2 handles flights from Schengen countries, with no passport check on arrival. Either way, allow around 15–40 minutes from landing to the arrivals hall, depending on queues and how quickly bags arrive.

Your driver already knows your flight and waits in the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name: in Terminal 1 by the Mattoni bar on your left as you come out, and in Terminal 2 by the information centre just outside the arrivals hall. See the meeting point guide for directions. If your bags are delayed or lost, report it at the airline's baggage desk before you leave the baggage hall, then message us on WhatsApp — your driver will wait.

A tip on money: the Czech Republic uses the Czech koruna (CZK), and cards are accepted almost everywhere. If you want cash, use a bank ATM rather than an exchange booth, and if a card machine or ATM offers to charge you in your home currency, choose CZK — the conversion offered is usually worse. Your transfer is already paid when you book, so there's nothing to pay the driver.

Vinohrady for longer stays

Many visitors choose Vinohrady for stays of a week or more. Apartments here tend to be larger than in Prague 1, everyday shops — supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies, laundries — are on almost every street, and the cafés are used to people working on laptops. In the evenings the neighbourhood feels local rather than touristy.

If you're arriving with a lot of luggage for a long stay, a car to the door makes a real difference: many Vinohrady buildings are 4–6 storeys, and not all have a lift. Check with your host about the lift before you travel, and tell us in the booking note if there's anything we should know about the entrance.

The drive to Vinohrady

Vinohrady is on the far side of the centre from the airport, so your driver crosses the city — usually through the tunnel ring or around the centre rather than through the historic streets. The trip takes about 25–35 minutes, depending on which part of Vinohrady you're staying in and the time of day.

Staying in Vinohrady

Vinohrady (mostly Prague 2, with parts in Prague 3 and 10) is one of Prague's most liveable neighbourhoods: tree-lined streets of 19th-century apartment buildings, cafés, wine bars and small restaurants, and some of the city's best parks. It's popular for apartments and boutique hotels, and usually better value than staying in Prague 1.

The main hubs are Náměstí Míru, with the Church of St Ludmila, and Jiřího z Poděbrad square, with its modernist church and a regular farmers' market. Metro line A stops at both, so Old Town is only a few stops away.

Drop-off on Vinohrady's residential streets

Vinohrady's streets are residential, with parking reserved for residents on most of them. Your driver stops in front of your building wherever it's possible, or as close as they can, and helps you to the door. For apartments, check your host's instructions for the entrance — many buildings have a street door with a code or an intercom — and tell us anything useful in the booking note.

Parks, cafés and things to do

  • Riegrovy sady — a hillside park with a view over the city towards the castle, and a popular beer garden in summer.
  • Havlíčkovy sady (Grébovka) — a romantic park with a small vineyard and a pavilion.
  • The Žižkov TV Tower, just beyond Jiřího z Poděbrad, with an observation deck.
  • Vinohradská and the streets around Náměstí Míru, lined with cafés, bakeries and restaurants.

Going back: Vinohrady to Prague Airport

The return journey from Vinohrady to Václav Havel Airport usually takes about 25–40 minutes, but allow extra time on weekday mornings (roughly 7:00–9:30) and late afternoons (roughly 15:30–18:30), when the main roads out of the city are at their busiest. Airlines generally recommend arriving 2 hours before a flight within the Schengen area and about 3 hours before a long-haul or non-Schengen flight, so for most travellers a pickup 2½–3½ hours before departure is about right.

Book the return when you book your arrival, or any time later. We need at least 90 minutes' notice for daytime pickups and 8 hours' notice for pickups between 00:00 and 08:00 — so if you have an early-morning flight, book it the day before. Pickups between 00:00 and 08:00 are charged at the night rate (+50%), and the price shown when you book already includes it.

Your driver collects you at your building's door, loads the luggage and drops you at the departures level of the right terminal: Terminal 1 for flights outside the Schengen area (for example the UK, US, Middle East and Asia) and Terminal 2 for Schengen flights. If you're unsure, check your booking or boarding pass — your driver can confirm too.

Luggage, families and groups heading to Vinohrady

Every fare includes luggage. A Comfort car (VW Passat / Skoda Superb) or SUV (Skoda Kodiaq) takes up to 4 passengers with 4 bags included — typically 2 large suitcases and 2 cabin bags. Up to 2 extra large bags can be added for 300 CZK each. If you're 4 people with more than 6 bags, one car isn't enough, and the booking form will suggest a minivan or a second car.

For 5–7 passengers, book the minivan (VW Transporter) or the Mercedes Vito / V-Class: both take up to 7 people and 7 bags, priced per vehicle rather than per person. Bringing a folded pram, skis or golf bags? Mention it in the booking note so we keep space for them.

Every passenger needs a seat, including children, so count everyone when you choose the number of passengers.
